This santoku style kitchen knife features a blade made from a three layer laminate (san mai). The core material at the cutting edge is ApexUltra high carbon steel- a new alloy designed for cutlery, offering previously unachieved levels of edge retention and toughness at high hardness. The core is clad with outside layers of Damasteel stainless damascus in a Fenja pattern. This is, to my knowledge, the world's first combination of these materials into a blade, a collaborative effort between myself and fellow bladesmith Casey Vilensky at my shop.
The blade features a stout spine and slightly convex grind down to a very thin edge.The handle is of octagonal "Wa" type with dyed stabilized maple burl and a stabilized black and white ebony bolster.
